COMM 305: Annotated Bibliography

For this project, I drafted an annotated bibliography of a piece by Becky Omdahl on maintaining effective work relationships. Beyond exposure to some excellent ideas on how to navigate the world of professional relationships, I came to a greater appreciation on the impact of relevant, well curated sources in supporting an article's points. I hope to analyze similar documents in the future, as I believe critical, close reading is the best way to integrate and remember knowledge long-term.

COMM 305: Briefing Report

In this assignment, I compiled a short list of guidelines to follow for effective nonverbal communication in the workplace. To build out these recommendations, I drew upon evidence and rationale gained through my college coursework and knowledge of communication. I did my best to ground the provided guidelines by describing the practical and tangible benefits of good nonverbal communication for any organization or individual within an organization.

A cornerstone of effective interpersonal communication, greater intercultural competence offers businesses a path to more efficiently achieve shared goals in the workplace. While grounded in academic theory, this report is grounded with practical recommendations that can be exercised daily to improve overall cutural literacy.

COMM 351: White Paper

In this white paper, I work through the setup of a hypothetical training program to address workplace conflict in a group of metropolitan urgent care facilities. Since this proposal is intended for audiences that may not have a Communication background, I spend time unpacking terms and concepts enountered during the course of my own degree program before applying those concepts to build constructive solutions to the complex and ever-present issue of conflicts at work.

COMM 351: Public Presentation

In this presentation, I address the disparity between several high-profile corporations' diversity statements, and how those appeals to greater diversity actually manifest in example jobs postings. What becomes increasingly clear is that saying the right words about the need for diverse representation is not enough; it is also necessary to set realistic and measureable targets in order to determine whether difference matters are actually being enaged with and improved upon. As with many elements of communication, achieving real, lasting change requires constant effort from all levels within the organization.
