About Me

I transferred to Old Dominion University in the spring of 2014 to pursue a Bachelor's in Professional Writing. I have known since high school that I wanted my working life to include writing somewhere near its core. I enjoy expressing myself through the written word, but I was not sure exactly where I might find the right, stable outlet for this ambition.

Since learning about technical and professional writing, I have done my best to work toward practicing it both in my coursework and ODU and during my professional life. When I draft memos or documents on the job, I make sure to consider the principles of technical writing that I've learned so far, to make sure that what I create is useful, relevant, and improves (even in some small way) the lives of those who will make use of my work.

In December 2014, I began completing contracted technical writing work at my current employer. Since then, I've continued to apply the concepts and knowledge gained through my program wherever possible to intelligently guide changes to our internal and external communication procedures and documentation.
